Metallic taste

Had a mild to strong metallic taste in my mouth which I noticed four days ago. Have decent oral hygiene and no other unaccounted for symptoms. Is this worth a trip to the docs?

One thing from recent experience - and this may be **completely** irrelevant - is that my wife experienced this recently, as one of the symptoms of Bell's Palsy.

Luckily, we caught it in time, it was mild anyway and the steroids prescribed helped a lot.

(Fwiw, the NHS - at the weekend I should note - were very impressive. Got to see a Dr. within 20 minutes at a minor injury clinic and then she was triaged, blood-tested, brain scanned, seen by a Dr. who ruled out a minor stroke, and sent home from a busy A&E unit within 4 hours).

No wishing to be alarmist but my O/H has epilepsy. In the early weeks following diagnosis, whilst her medication was being changed to find what worked well for her, a metallic taste was invariably followed by a seizure.

Any chance you're pregnant? It's one of the common causes of a metallic taste in the mouth.

Bells Palsy for me too.

Strong metallic taste on the right hand side of my mouth the night before.

Woke up in the morning and the right side of my face had dropped.

Lasted about 5 months and still have a slight drop on my mouth and eye........7 years later.

Thankfully the taste has gone today.
