... just interested to know whether 981 GT4 values are softening. I have been watching the above car on an online Motor Trade auction over the past few days, and the hammer finally went down late this afternoon.
The car had covered 3529 miles, metallic black (with PPF wrap), PCCB cermamic brakes, full bucket seats, chrono pack including track app, Bi-Xenon headlights including dynamic cornering, carbon fibre interior trim, and much more. It showed in the description:-

Over revs range 1 - 183 ignitions 97.5 hours
Over revs range 2 - 35 ignitions 95.03 hours
Over revs range 3 - 22 ignitions 32.73 hours
Over revs range 4 - 196 ignitions 27,92 hours
Over revs range 5 - 20 ignitions 27.92 hours

The car was entered by a Porsche main dealer, ....... can anyone hazard a guess at what it made??

If my recollection is right a car with those over revs can’t be covered by the extended warranty ?

That was my guess as to why the dealership wouldn't retails the car!

Something is a bit weird on the ECU given range 4 has that many more than range 2/3 I'd have thought?

Is it me, or is that really strong money for a car with dodgy over revs?

....... I'm not sure, I suppose it depends upon the cost of a new engine if it does go pop!!

I thought the buyers fee was 7.5% plus VAT

..... no, on the site it was on, anything over £3K commands a buyers fee of £100 + vat.

Clubsport? That is not bad money for a car that you can't get a OPC warranty on. It'll need a compression test with the upper rev ranges being hit. Better to pay another £8k-£10k (or less with higher miles) to get a sorted one IMHO.

It's not cheap but I suppose you could get a third party warranty on it as they won't be a strict on rev reports?

Well the over-revs in the higher categories appear to have been at the same time, a long time ago.

Yes it would be worth taking all the normal precautions, but this engine has proven to be incredibly reliable and is retained in the 718 GT4 Clubsport.

How many seasons has it been raced ? How few problems have been reported ? Why is it running without requiring timed component replacements ?

If you look at the number of ignitions in a six cylinder four stroke engine, how few revs at this level have there been ?

Is this Porsche also refusing to warranty cars with non-N rated tyres ?

And is this car at auction only because they don't want to warranty it ? They evidently did buy it ....

It's one of the first things they do I believe.

I was under the understanding that an OPC wouldn’t warrant anything that had over revs above Rev range 4 without a compression test meaning that they may well cover it should the car pass the compression test.
I would have a chat with a couple of OPC’s and get their thoughts.

N rated tyres required and no puncture repairs allowed or screws or nails in any tyres.

When the over revs go into the higher ranges they become difficult to get the Porsche warranty on. This would have an effect on the cars resale value imo.

Made good money considering.
