Looking for 'Rugged' vehicle

My son works on a farm in South Devon. He currently drives a Mitsubishi Colt Rally Art. His commute takes him down country lanes & unmade farm tracks. He experiences many punctures (so much so that his space saver spare is now worn out.).
Socially, he needs a car that will have 5 seats as he has a young family. He is adamant that he does not want a Suzuki Jiminy. The car does not have to be 4 wheel drive. Can anyone suggest a vehicle that has big, chunky tyres that can take the punishment of unmade farm tracks, provide 5 seats & is economical (he is a farm worker on little more than the minimum wage!). Budget maybe £8k. Crew cab, whatever? All suggestions considered!

Yes sir, thread closed. I see these in Romania doing some rough duties, and they seem to be simple and rugged. Best deal going in the auto world right now..looks good too!

Took a Duster hire car well off the beaten track in Montenegro recently and it didn't miss a beat.

It's not really how rugged the car is, it's more so how rugged the tyres are. Or he needs to pick his line more carefully and slowly.

So I decreased the wheel size and increased the tyre sidewall

If he still has problems then simply buy a spare set of wheels off ebay - perhaps steels
