Insurance beaters??

Ok so I have just had some absolute shockers with regards to car insurance while looking at some new wheels. Many reasons for this. (Health - notifiable conditions, licence - more points than Liverpool, home location - apparently medium risk, job - bit high on the risk front, previous claims, etc etc).
So started looking to get round this. Most cars I was looking at had over 150 bhp. The range was between 150 and 230 bhp.
Anyway I tried to come up with a plan. And the it started getting complicated - basically I ran out of ideas. So here is the question. Best most fun car with less than 100 bhp?
It will be a new cash purchase.

After a couple of years a cars risk is calculated using actual data so pick a car that's statistically less likely to have a history of claims.
Try something like a Rover 75.
I used the Rover 75 as an example to my 17 year old nephew. A quote on a family members 1.0 mitsubishi came out at £2.5k. The 2.0 Rover 75 came in at £800.

Apologies, wasn't clear to me from post that you were looking for a brand new car.I wouldn't have thought there's many cars left that ship out new with less than 100bhp these days so your market is already severely narrowed.
Does it have to be brand new, especially if you're a cash buyer or is it just preference?

Yep new is preference.

Just had a nice chat with a good chap at my current insurers. Turns out that the medical factors in my case (too detailed to list) are the biggest factors in a massive price hike (100%). My licence whilst it has points is the cleanest its been since 1996! He agreed that a much lower powered vehicle would assist in getting the premiums down considerably.

Having looked at various options for a small car to replace my slightly underpowered local runabout - Skoda Citigo 60bhp - I settled on a Kia Picanto GT-line S. It has a 99bhp turbo version of the 1 litre engine, so is fast enough for a small runabout.
It's obviously a little slower than the Up! GTi, but it's tuned for torque rather than high revs, so it's happy to potter round at just above tickover in traffic.
The S model has pretty much every toy you could want - heated seats and steering wheel, climate control, nav, dab, 4 electric windows, keyless entry, reverse camera, sunroof. A lot of that stuff isn't available on the Up! as an option.
7 year warranty is a bonus.
I paid £14,250 for a 69 plate pre-reg with 45 miles on the clock. I was the first customer to drive it.
Group 10 (out of 50) insurance, so pretty cheap.
