So my dad has a VW Passat 1.9tdi 100hp 54 plate. For a couple of years the coolant temperature never got up to 90 but we never did anything about it. I recently did a service for him and put a new circoli stat in from eurocarparts. Having done it and bled the system car now goes up to 90 and stays there. Good. Having read online though I seem to see a never ending amount of people saying they WILL fail. Now my dad is VERY tight and wont be happy about it if he has to buy a new one from TPS and also some G13 though I fear it will come to that. I know nobody is going on the internet and saying how their part didn't break but is it really a case of they are not fit for purpose? My fault for getting the circoli one, it was the only option from ECP and they normally do both oem parts and non oem so when I saw just that one I foolishly assumed it was oem. Thanks in advance

I've used various aftermarket parts from ECP including Circoli water pump and thermostats and not had a problem, yet.

When I do, I'll stop using aftermarket, but I've been DIY'ing my cars for years with my dad, always used aftermarket parts and not had a single problem yet.

Maybe it's the workmanship of the fitting biggrin

I used an oem rubber seal as the non gen was quite out of shape. Hopefully itll hold up but atleast I've heard someone found some success!

It's such an important part it's not worth buying a pattern.
