ignoring, if we can, the political aspect AIUI it's not physically possible to build this extra amount of houses, and I say extra since one would assume that persimon et al would not actually cease all building of their own?

Houses or homes?
You'll be allocated a home and like it. If your the sort of capitalist dog who thinks you "own" a home, you may find your home will have other allocated occupants. It may also be "improved" into a much larger home with many floors, probably made by good quality socialist concrete.

I have a theory going, I wonder if you could help?

If you have a facebook profile, in your profile picture are you:
a) wearing sunglasses
b) shirtless
c) stood in a holiday resort swimming pool with your arms on the edge of the pool, looking up at the camera

maybe this is why the tories set themselves a target of 200k affordable new homes and managed to deliver zero. Not political, just a fact.

"No Starter Homes have been built to date," the NAO said. "The funding originally intended for Starter Homes has instead been spent on acquiring and preparing brownfield sites for housing more generally, some of which is affordable housing".

The watchdog said that while it was possible that developers have built and sold homes that conform to the Starter Home programme, they could not be sold under the discounted scheme because "the exact specifications" of the scheme are not yet defined.

Not really the same as 'none'.

Well due to the fact that there is a shortage of bricks, (Persimmon recently built their own brick factory to try and alleviate the problem) roofing materials, plaster and tradesmen it’s not going to happen anytime soon. Add to the equation that planning permission takes forever and a day it’s just pie in the sky.

I think you need to look up the definition of the word “fact”. You seem to have confused it with “untruth”.

Ssssh.... "Manufactured homes", manufactured, manufactured.

If it's good enough for Goldman Sachs and Ilke Homes, then it's good enough for your local Housing Association. Just need to make them get their fingers out their asses. They've been allowed to borrow capital for last few years, the supply of prefab (opps, manufactured) houses (even the Chinese ones) is actually quite good, planning was relaxed by Cameron so all they need to do is start using their land bank.

Ooops.

Not to worry, who's got a massive land bank and a current use of that land that will soon be disrupted by own business model (home deliveries). And that land just so happens to be next to existing housing and work opportunities. Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons.

Coming soon to you, the Tesco Value Home, in blue and white strips. Except it won't be called Tesco. But it will be Tesco. Just with lots of marketing and brand building. Bricks won't matter at that point, because these will be "high value manufactured homes" they will exhibit their aspiration through their modern materials... Yip...

Mark my words!!!!!

Might have mentioned it before- i work in social housing. Move out of london town, I'm struggling to see why they are needed.

Ok, in London, sod all affordable left due to the sale of council housing. market outstripping the sector- you've all priced yourself out. well done you.

We're all dead jealous of you paying £1m to live in an old council flat. fantastic.

but move north- why ? I'm sat here with lots of lovely homes and no demand. or what I should say its 1000's of "homeless" people- going- no, don't want that one, want a new build innit.

I could rent you a house for £75 a week. The supply is already there. What's changed is people's aspirations as to what they want/will accept.

Sounds like it's your second language too. Scotch is a drink, or a meat coated egg. He is a Scot, or he is Scottish.
