Some in society are still bigots

I think those that complained should be named, lets see if they are willing to stand up and be counted.

So far as entertainment goes I found the sight of two blokes dancing very unentertaining and decided to switch off. I had recorded the show. Sure, I expect others watched and saw some great dance moves and not notice the dance routine was two blokes prancing around smile

People are allowed opinions. If we didn't allow people with other views a voice, then then we would still be stuck in the dark ages with regard to Gay rights.

Personally I think the whole thing was just trying to be woke though. It's a mixed doubles dance competition, not a dating show. The sexual preference of the contestants is nothing to do with the dance (unless a gay contestant uncomfortable or disadvantaged dancing with someone of the opposite sex).

My old neighbour would be one of them who complained, he was openly homophobic and aggressive with it.
He grabbed me and threatened to beat me up if I told his wife that I saw him getting noshed in the gay bar toilets.

I didn't see the show but assume that it was on the BBC it didn't including feltching, buggery and rimming in the dance routine?

AIUI one of the two male dancers is straight, and the bit where they danced together wasn't part of the competition.

I'm surprised that this is the first occasion they've had a same-sex dance routine. How long has Strictly been going now? I'd sort of assumed it must have already happened at some point over the years.

Sad that there are still people who have a problem with such things.

So 10.5m people and only 200 complained? I'd call that a result tbh and nearly negligible.

The word bigot seems to be in much more widespread use than I ever remember it to be.

However, does it not strike people as rather ironic that those calling out others as bigots, are by definition, being bigots themselves?

198? Be interesting to see what other kinds of fruitcake complaints achieve numbers in the low hundreds relative to gazillions of viewers!

Next step, get the birds teaming up, then they will break some records.

(I don’t even watch it before anyone gets all offended and that)

I'm not sure that's entirely correct.

Bigot is quite nuanced in its meaning, and if anything has developed over time to mean mean someone who is an obstinate and intolerant believer in a particular theory. Bigoted now means unreasonably prejudiced.

By seeing bigotry in behaviour does not mean that that person is them self bigoted, only that they can see the characteristics.

What's odd about two men dancing together? It doesn't reduce them in any way.

no longer surprised at any cack-handed stunt the bbc will do in order to be seen as progressive.
