Insurance for CP
Discussion
I recently changed my F10 M5 for a CP version... when I advised my insurer they refused to cover it...
I managed to find another insurer but the cheapest I could find in a hurry is still 30% more than my non CP car..
Seems ridiculous to me... I have 10 years NCD, no points... etc... nothing changed except the CP option being ticked on the car I changed to
Anyone had the same experience or better luck ?

I had a bit of a shock at the price of my renewal on a 2014 M5 CP when it came round this year. Previously it was on a multicar policy with Admiral, but that increased from ~£1000 for 3 cars to £1600.
Most of the main insurers I tried were a lot more expensive this time round too. Ended up phoning Adrian Flux (bit of a blast from the past) and got close to what I paid last year for the M5 part of the premium.

The CP wheels are bloody expensive, and hard to get hold of so they end up renting you a car until they’re sourced.
They’re also what the thieves go for.
That being said, BMW insurance was the cheapest by far for my M3 CP.
Thanks...that is probably it.. theft risk.. They’re also what the thieves go for.

I recently got a quote for a McLaren 570s, which was 400 cheaper than the M5!!
Oh well.. will try BMW insurance next !
