Hi fellow pistonheaders. Really hoping some kind person will help me out. I know next to nothing about bikes or bike events but I want to buy some tickets to a bike event in 2020 for my husband (He loves all kinds of motorsport but is mad on motorbikes, he has his own bike too).
I live in the south of England (Hampshire) so something that isn’t a million miles away would be good. I’ve had a look at Bennett’s British Superbike Championship at Thruxton but they have several days of racing to choose from... Is this a good event? If so what day is best?
Or also I looked at Moto GP at Silverstone, again several days of racing. Is this a good event? What day is best to go?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks thanks 😁

Is that you Chell? To think my other half has spent the time to find out some random bike forum i frequent and taken the time to think about what to buy me for my birthday cloud9 Bless her . Hang on a minuet , that lazy no interested in anything I do is away with work again apparently rolleyes, that and the fact bikes don't resemble horses means I've got this all wrong frown .

Sorry Op, as you were, its obviously not my other half, fair play for thinking about hubby and bikes though, hopefully somebody can suggest a nice Prezi biggrin

Typically the Sunday has the actual races, Fridays and Saturdays are practice and qualifying. You'll notice the Sunday is the most expensive day to go.

Thruxton isn’t great for spectating imo.

Brands hatch British superbikes would be better. If he is up for it you can get a weekend pass with camping. They have good entertainment in the evenings.

BSB @ Cadwell or Brands, Sunday only I would suggest.

Motogp @ Silverstone is dearer and much less of an experience - ie, BSB open paddock vs motogp lock down, plus Silverstone is pants for spectators.

British Superbikes is the obvious choice and a very good choice too. If he has never been before it will be a great experience for him. If money / time stretches it's worth getting him Saturday and Sunday tickets, but if you have to choose 1 day then go for Sunday tickets as that is when the main racing is on.

If he is interested in all bikes in general then the Dirtquake event looks like a decent fun event to go too, I haven't been to one myself but it is something I quite fancy going to sometime.

Or maybe book him a track day so he can ride his own bike on track.

Or how about an off road experience type day? I vant make any recommendations myself but I'm sure there will be others on here who have done them before that can reccomend one?

Get him Sunday tickets for MotoGP at Silverstone.

Could be Rossi’s last year and if he’s never been to any race it’ll be a experience.

On the weds/thurs ? They have day of champions where you get to go around the pits and meet some of the riders .

A random, no cost option, Poole bike night, every Tuesday April - September, loads of interesting bikes to see and fish and chips on the quay too.

Another cheap option to see classic and modern racing machines (and riders) up close (although not actually racing) is Brackley Festival of Motorcycling if it's back on next year.

For not much more you could get him a cheap flight to Amsterdam and he could have a weekend of coke and hookers.

I know which one I would prefer...
