M6 vs 650i vs XKR
Discussion
Hi,
Thinking of changing my current F10 530d M-Sport+ for a coupe. I have changed jobs & don’t need to commute by car anymore.
I really like the look, sound & specialness of the XKR but have to consider what BMW have to offer as I am so used to the brilliance of the F10’s kit & integration.
Problem is I’m afraid that the 650i won’t feel that different, the M6 will ruin me!
Thoughts please.

I have an F12 650i, and test drove an XKR and M6 before I bought it.
The M6 was driven in the wet, so I didn't get to feel the speed difference. It was a nice place to sit, but outside of bragging rights I didn't see the need to spend the extra in purchase and running costs over the 650 I bought instead. If I'd driven it in the dry, I might well be saying different things mind you!
The XKR I drove sounded great, went very well, and had an excellent interior. I was put off by the completely pointless rear seats (6 series isn't great, but you can at least use them for short trips!), but mainly by the outdated tech and touch screen. I decided it would be annoying to have to go into the screen to turn on / off the heated seats and so on - some things should be on a button for convenience, and to allow you to operate them without looking at a screen to see what you're doing...
I'd suggest driving them, and seeing which you prefer. The Jag will likely feel like the nicest place to sit, and will make the nicest sound. Looks wise, it's debatable - depends if you like cars to be pretty (Jag) or handsome (BMW) in my view, but they both look good to my eyes. The BMW will probably have more kit in it, and may feel more modern.

why would the M6 ruin you? I'm guessing that with cars you are considering mpg isn't really a factor.. Servicing is straight forward BMW, and running one with a warranty is a reasonable cost.. Biggest cost is depreciation, but seeing as though that has all been taken care of by the massive first few years hit, I can't see one costing much - certainly compared with any new car. Reckon my 16 plate isn't going to drop much from where it is at the moment. Still feels like a new car - if you get one try and get one with with ID6 (you can update may16 on builds of ID5 to ID6) which gives you car play, etc.
