Hi all, I've found a couple old topics on this asking if AM cars (VMY2010 Vantage in my case) are fitted with Thatcham approved security alarms/immobilisers as standard.

If so where is the proof for insurance companies?

AM doesn't appear on the pdf list of cars provided by Thatcham frown

I tried emailing a link on an old post to am tech for a letter but it bounced.

Anybody got a document / letter, or suggestions as to how to get such a document please?

If the fuss is caused by your insurer, how about doing your insurance with a firm who do not insist on the Thatcham stuff.

Aviva and NFU for example, are happy with AM original security. I suppose though, that probably varies depending on location.

Yes thats an option, but it seems to be a requirement on some of the Meerkat type quotation sites, that got me wondering and sure enough the cheapest quote asks for Thatcham approval. I had input "Manufacturer Fit alarm and immobiliser" in any case as I simply didn't know, then old posts on here suggest it is Thatcham approved and we can get a letter proving that from AM apparently. Hence my post.

All insurers I've dealt with in past few years seem happy with me ticking the 'manufacturers standard fitment' box during the quote, for any cars that I've had including the Aston.

I remember years ago when I had my GTO, back then I had to have a Thatcham Cat 1 system fitted in order to get cover, and ongoing I always had to send a copy of my VSIB (or whatever it was called) certificate of installation if I changed insurers, but I've never been asked if any system is Thatcham approved for years now on any of my cars.

Not quite I'm afraid, this one, but insurers still wouldn't touch them without Thatcham kit in those days.
