BMW 7 series

Scanning through Autotrader (like you do!) and saw a BMW 7 Series e drive fof less than £30k, which seems like a bargain.

We all know BMW 7, Merc S and Audi 8 plummet whilst still sat in the dealer showroom, but less than 2 year old, 10k miles does seem 'good' value.

Given the 7 has a 2 litre engine (so no big servicing costs or fuel bills) does it follow these 7 depn curve may be more forgiving than of old?

Anyone in the trade predict what these will suffer in the next 12 months?

Dont know about the future but when I was toying with opting out the company car scheme i was looking at a 4 series Gran Coupe, it was 2 years old and next to it at the dealer was a 7 series 30d M sport 2 years old for pretty much the same money, couldn't believe it, so much car for the money, deffo on my radar in a few years time.

A 7 with a 2.0 engine, didn’t even know such a thing existed... whilst you’ll certainly get the space, I don’t think it’ll feel much of an experience to savour. But what do I know, not driven one of these bmw e jobbies...

I budget for 50% depreciation every three years. Its never too far away.

The thought of a chatty petrol four cylinder in a 7 series is outrageous. It should at least be a six cylinder diesel.

I doubt you'd even be able to hear it, it'll be that well insulated.

And its designed to supplement the electric motor so i guess its something we're all going to have to get used to (small capacity engines + electric)

Is there anything in the BMW hybrid powerplant nomenclature? The 3 and 5 series hybrids are x30e; 7 series (and X5 I think) are x40e.

Do the 7 and X5 have the higher power 2 litre unit?

Yes. The 330e is <300bhp on electric boost. The 7 series are more.

Plenty of little engines deliver the numbers.
Doesn’t mean the deliver the experience to savour though...

Many dealers, such as Dick Lovett, have the 730d brand new with a huge deposit contribution/discount. £73k list, £29k dc/discount. £599 in and £599 a month for four years. It’s a huge amount of quality car for the money.

Theres a difference between an engine that might impress a "driver", and a power train to power a large exec saloon.
