Been looking at bikes on eBay etc,and a blade caught my eye.
Seller was also up for a swap deal and to tell the truth comes across as being in a bit of a rush to get rid.
Alarm bells?
It’s a good couple of hrs away,so not easy to go and view first, plus if it’s been repaired, how to find out without stripping the fairings off etc. It’s low mileage with fsh and I’d hpi first.
Opinions?

Probably just me but I’ve always seen ‘swaps’ on eBay and gumtree as ‘I’d like to swap my broken, damaged or possibly stolen item for your good, legit one’.

Look elsewhere. Not like a fireblade is particularly rare either, another one will come along.

It all depends on lots of factors; how old is it, how many miles, what do the pics look like, how much does he want, how much cheaper than a comparable bike is it, will you fix it yourself if necessary or will you have to pay labour rates, have you got access to a van or trailer, etc etc etc.

Need far more info to advise whether it's worth a punt.

What’s his reason for wanting the swap? What’s the swap for?

I’ve swapped modified cars for standard cars previously as they’ll sell easier.

But usually I see swaps as desperation to sell.

Appeal for me is not having the hassle of selling mine, first. It’s a GSXS 750.
I have a mate with a van,so would only cost me the derv and lunch.

Positives,

Looks very, very clean. Not a bad price, not great but not bad. It claims to have had new tyres, chain, oil and filter.

To make you aware....

Your coming up to valve clearances needing done, I just had mines done recently at an indy £220 to change all exhaust valves. Likely suspension hasn't been refreshed and its still on rubber brake lines but no biggy there.

Negatives

It's fking covered in performance bike mag stickers.........I think twice about plastering these on my stey 5 year old curry's special laptop.
The guys grammar is shocking in the advert.
The photos are clearly old as it doesn't look Baltic and there is leaves actually still on trees.
Don't think that's a standard hugger for that model.

I'm not put off. I'd consider it.

I would if it works for you, I'm guessing the seller is Polish by his username, so you can forgive his grammar rolleyes they like a deal/swap, if the bike checks out with HPI and looks and sounds ok then it probably is, I'm not keen on all the extra stickers on it as I always think they are hiding something but its just usually the sellers poor taste.

I swapped a Versys 650 for a Hayabusa once, it blew its oil cooler on the way home as the seller/swapper 'forgot' to tell me about it but it was a decent bike.

Ah good shout, eastern European would account for the crass taste and poor grammar.

A mate found a 2015 3k mile fireblade on eBay for £6.5k we both thought it too good to be true but after a lot of checking by my mate he bought it and nothing bad has come up, there are good deals to be done but they are few and far between.

Had two MOTs about a month apart in 2016 which looks a bit odd (20/9/16 and 31/10/16) and the next MOT was on 5/5/18 with just 358 miles extra.

Does happen with bikes and the passes are all clean.

Might have got a fresh one of the dealer.

If you have concerns amout damage you could eBay message and ask. Would then at least have something written down if you do find issues at a later date. Would also be good to know what tyres in case they are cheap ones for a sale.

As MTB I would question the stickers, and also if he doesn't make his bed has he really stayed on top of maintenance?

I'm married to a Czech, her country shares a much larger border with Poland than your bird's and she does any translations I need for free.
In fact, she does pretty much anything I want for free.

Ball very much now in your court...

swaps always strike me as someone trying to upgrade without paying the difference in cash. The only thing I'd want to swap a bike for is cash.

Arent you swapping when you trade your bike in for a different one? Do you actually have a naked bike that he wants? if not all you are doing is putting doubt in your mind , you've been obviously drawn to it and if if it all checks out and hpi's then bingo if not, then like any other sale walk away.
Its got stickers on it and a repsol hugger he may or may not put them on , but its his bike so he can do what he likes.
Ask him questions etc. I would ask if it has 2 keys though.
