After wearing out Autotrader trying to pick a second car for the household I decided that I would get back to the TT fold. I previously had a MK1 TT many moons ago (hence the username). I was tempted to pick up a MK1 3.2 V6 as they can be had for very little money these days but decided a slightly newer car would be the more sensible choice.

Found this reasonable close to home in very good condition. Two owners, 54k on the clock, full service history. Wasn't sure about the colour at first but in the sunshine it really pops. It's a custom colour called Fiat Orencio Victoria apparently and cost the first owner about £2100 to get.

Not planning any major modifications for the time being. Will likely replace the CD/Radio head unit for a new double din unit with android auto and DAB.

Looks good. I think the orange may have been used on the Punto GT.

This, 'mancave' and 'sleeps' as in "five sleeps until I get my new car" should be subject to the swear filter!

Nice car though. I was looking at Mk2 TTs last night as there are bargains to be had.

Pedantry aside, yes, quite a few mk2s in pocket money range. Even a few mk3s starting to look like a bargain.

Fantastic colour and they are still very fresh looking and a nice place to be. Definitely underrated.

Very nice. Like the colour.

The mk2 sits just right on standard wheels/suspension without the stupidly large gaps between the tyre and arch the mk3 has.

That’s a beautiful colour and suits the mk2 TT perfectly

I really like the mk2 TT, my ex had a TTS and it was a decent (if a little crashy) Drive.

Far prefer these to Mk1s, so much of them are absolute nails

Yeah the drive is a little crashy at times but I knew that going in to it. I totally understand the reputation that it tends to get but in reality the stronic box is good, it's real world fast as much as you need, the cabin is a lovely cossetting place to be as well.

Have a new head unit getting installed on the 4th so looking forward to that. Figured that I'll be keeping it for a few years and might as well get it updated.

Couple of little updates to the car.

Sourced some OEM all weather mats for the car which is much needed up here in Scotland. Also got a boot liner and boot tidy (exciting i know!)

Had the reverse camera and new stereo installed although I'm getting a warning light from the camera so the installer needs to fit a resistor to the wiring to remove this.

Got distracted by some carbon bling and bought some flappy paddle extenders. They fitted OK, but the right hand on was fouling on the wiper sensitivity adjustment switch and basically they were a bit garbage. Unfortunately the 3M tape was excellent and it's pulled off the rear cover to the paddles in my process to remove them. Will need to attempt to source some replacements.

Gave the car a full(ish) detail including a new coat of wax.

Had to drop it off at a local independant as the front brake was binding, so queue new caliper on driver side and pads on both sides. Got a quick service done while she was in as well just to be on the safe side.

Love the colour. Was tempted by one a while ago.

How do you know if a caliper is binding?

Started with just a very slight high pitched noise. I initially thought it might be the power steering but it got progressively worse. Cooked the brake pad as well. Not sure if it was due to anything external related or just a fault.

Early Jan managed to get out for a good run in the car.

Finally managed to sell the previous owners private plate so decided yesterday to give it a good plates-off cleaning and spring waxing. Took me half an hour to carefully remove the old sticky pads, even with a glue remover.

Some great roads outside Aberdeen. This was the route I took on that day.
