Well crew, one question I have which I'd be grateful for your initial thoughts/experiences on - I've been on the net this weekend checking out the prices to insure another Elise based upon elephant's website (mine is up for renewal come end June).

I've noticed that by declaring that I've had an accident (even no fault) my premium will go up by a margin of around £100+ :shoot:
Obviously this is only one insurer, but without doing this my premium for the year would have been really good compared to last year and I'm pretty p!ssed off frankly.

Now seeing as I have to declare this for x amount of years post-accident, I'm loath to suffer the cost of doing that. Does anyone know or have experience of if I'll be able to include that kind of thing in my uninsured losses claim?
Perhaps I should direct that to the Solcs but thought I'd ask here too.

Cheers, Tim

Exactly the same thing has happened to me. I had a completely no fault accident at the beginning of last year (someone drove in to the back of me). It DID put up my insurance, regardless of the fact that I still have my full NCB.

Their response? "Statistics show that even if you have a no fault accident, you are more likely to have another accident within the next 3 years".

Hiya Steve, I owe you a phone call mate to say thanks.

Hunt is coming along well. Interviewed 2 candidates last week, made an offer on one, awaiting the results on a check-up this coming Saturday and all being well there will be a new kid on the block very soon!

Expect an announcement shortly thereafter

Sainsbury's insurance could be worth a look at the moment. My housemate works in the insurance / media industry and mentioned they're about to up their advertising.

Recently been looking at a BMW 330d motorway cruiser and they came up £300 cheaper than the quotes from Tesco, Elephant and Norwich Onion etc.

When my Audi A3 was written of by a suspected uninsured driver I had to stump up the cost of insurance, travel costs without a car, increased premium etc. Eventually using the free legal aid with my insurance I managed to recoup ALL costs from the 3rd party, including my increased premium over the 18 months it took to fight my case and the 4 years no claims I lost. Your insurance company should fight for your money from the 3rd party...

Well, I spoke to my solicitor about this only yesterday and she's confident we can get this paid up as uninsured losses/compensation.

I have to get some proof of a) how long I have to declare the accident (albeit no fault) and b) some prints of quotes which show premiums calculated with the accident declared and undeclared. Not hard to do that at all.

Maybe this dark cloud has a silver lining after-all!?

You must be able to play that one to your advantage..

Any news on the replacement yet?
