Get a more boring topic....So I am fed up in this weather of having to pull a chain through my spoked AT wheels and getting filthy hands before i walk into the office.

Thinking a D lock will solve this problem and remove the fiddliness - I would like something that clips onto my bike somewhere (I have a givi rack and crash bars so i am sure i can find somewhere).

Most of the D locks i have seen are long and thin - I wants something that will go around the back tyre on my Africa Twin..any suggestions for a D lock with a mount?

The only d locks that I can think of that come with mounts are the Abus Granit 58 and 59. No idea if they’re wide enough though.

You shouldn't need it to go around the tyre? If you go through the swing arm and spokes that should do it no? You don't really want wider as it's easier to leverage.

Normally I would but my commute is 2 hours each way, time is of the essence in the morning, all about convenience. I would rather pay the money for the D lock

Honda do a U lock that fits under the seat, I don't know how strong it is or if will fit around the rear tyre but might be worth a look, I have had a U lock for years and it was too long and narrow to fit under the seat and would not go around the tyre but it wasn't far out .. The Honda one is wider it might just fit around the tyre ..

Beside the point, I could never be arsed with a U-lock under the seat of the Africa Twin.

Maybe I lack the practice or patience, but I find the seat a ball ache to remove and refit. Doing it twice each working day I'd be leaving it in a top box.

Pragmasis do D locks which have motorbike sold secure ratings (rather than buying one supposed for a cycle). They have dimensions on the site, but no idea if it would go around a tyre as that sounds doubtful. Why not just get a shorter chain and store it in a tailpack, I am sure there are a couple out there that come with their own tailpack. Or you can get one of those locks you can wear as a belt?

I have a Kryptonite Fahgedaboutit (sp??), the shorter version which is a chunky piece. I put between the front forks and through the spokes on my Blade when in the garage, it fits perfectly. Could probably lock it through the rear also. Won't fit under the rear seat but could probably get a mount for it.

I found the optimal solution of storing a big U-lock on a mini bike : Hide it in plain sight !

I had that idea about 40 years ago, never saw it elsewhere, modified luggage rack.....

........and whopee, instant sissy bar / backrest !

Custom plastic bushings, does not rattle, still usable as U-Lock, and adds a touch of 70s Raleigh Chopper style.
All I need now is a 7" cateye.

Other frame holders are available for the more serious bike owner.

Gigi do this top box mount, but not sure the D-lock would go around a tyre.

Why a D-lock? Similar security could be achieved by hooking a strong padlock over the sprocket and chain. Something like the Oxford Monster (https://smile.amazon.co.uk/Oxford-Monster-Disc-Lock-Gold-Yellow/dp/B0036Z3LMA/) or just a high quality large padlock (https://smile.amazon.co.uk/Yale-YALY210C51-51-Padlock-Shackle/dp/B00L2JXRJY/)

I want it to stand out and be seen whilst keeping my hands clean. My sprocket is disgusting

I have an Abus Granit 540. The D lock doesn't have to go around the tyre, it can also round wheel spokes or forks.
