Fun Daily for 12k
Discussion
If you want a fun daily then the Megane RS265 with the Cup Chassis & preferably the Recaros:

Now if you want something a bit softer then these two would be my joint second choice:
Peugeot Sport 308 GTI 270/250

Easy – 208 GTI by Peugeot Sport: https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...
Driving position is awkward at first but I loved it after I got used to it and still miss it! My lifetime average was 38mpg. Has to be one of the most underrated/overlooked cars of recent years.
My fleet articles available here: https://www.pistonheads.com/regulars/ph-fleet/peug...

I'm also interested in a fun daily at this price point but buying French or Vauxhall isn't something I've ever been keen to do. Are these cars reasonably reliable and reasonably priced to run?https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

The correct answer is GT86.

35 mpg is achievable, but you'll have to drive like my Nan. I averaged 31 mpg over four years - click.
If only there was a feature to settle this... Oh wait! https://www.pistonheads.com/news/features/toyota-g...Click

I disagree with Matt's verdict though

PS. Love the level of detail in your My Garage!

Why haven't you been keen, all three have proven themselves to be reliable & both the Megane & Peugeot are imo a step ahead of the Golf/Leon dynamically with the VXR being on par with both.

Just a general feeling that French cars are unreliable and Vauxhalls are to be avoided. Nothing from personal experience. I'm veering to the GT86 though, just because I do love my Toyotas.https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

To be honest I used to completely dismiss French cars before I came to work at PH and then I was converted. I've since had six Renaultsport's over the last four years and they've been the most reliable cars I've ever owned. Much better than anything German or Japanese!SCEtoAUX said:

That's more of an old myth now along with Italian cars, but all modern cars will have one (be it mostly niggly ones) issue or another it just seems to be the way things are these days.GreatGranny said:
I know it's cliché and some will say they are boring but a Golf GTI must be in there with a shout.
He said fun
all jokes aside I've found pretty much all the (Edition 30 accepted but even that isn't om par with a Cup chassis Megane) Golfs a bit meh in terms of a entertainment.I think the reason people rave about the MK5 was because the MK4 was so poor.
