Burning rubber smell from one side of car
Discussion
After approximately an hour of country lane driving (no more than 50/60mph) when parked I got out to smell burning rubber from the rear offside wheel.
Car is a 2016 GTD with tyres with 5mm tread.
It has had hunter laser alignment carried out Thursday just gone and full service, MOT and break fluid change Tuesday just gone.
Is there anything that I should be checking?
I have 3 long journeys of between 4-5 hours each coming up over the next 2 weeks (which was why I had all the service and alignment done beforehand), so want to make sure all is ok

I had exactly that on my car a couple of weeks ago (same wheel too!).
After spending the evening wondering what it could be, I went out the following morning and found the tyre was flat. I must have picked up a slow-ish puncture a couple of miles from home, but the tyre had stayed up enough for me not to notice, but lost enough pressure to start getting hot.

Could be, but I really hope not. Parked in middle of nowhere right nowAfter spending the evening wondering what it could be, I went out the following morning and found the tyre was flat. 100 percent regen!
Wife has a 1.6tdi A1, we interrupted a regen soon after buying it but it took online research to understand what it was.
Fan on, burning rubber smell - VAG traits you interrupted a DPF regen, it's very noticeable. We thought the fan was stuck on and burning out at first.
Edited to add....you can tell if it's doing a regen as the car idles higher even when stationary and start/stop will be unavailable. Worth checking when you come to park up.

Hopefully just dpf regen, but just in case I'd suggest running your hands around the inboard walls of your tyres, feeling for anything unusual... I once had a burning rubber smell after returning from a 2 week holiday, turned out to be a snapped spring rubbing against the wall of the tyre. My neatly-routed groove in the tyre wall was an extreme example, but if something is rubbing against the back of the tyre that much you should be able to feel it on the rubber.
Another one for dpf regen.
My insignia would do this, I think it's dipping in and out of regen at a/b road speeds and finds it hard to complete a cycle.
Fans on full and gross rubber smell when switched off.
I have an app that tells me when a regen is in progress and it's percentage by reading the obd2 but it's for GM cars. I'm sure a vw alternative exists
