Replacement Temperature Sensor

Hi, at Rockingham at the weekend I was told a new temp sensor was a good idea to improve idling (as well as new HT leads)...

Anybody know what the correct part is for a 97 (R) Chim 400 please ?

Its a Lucas SNB802 standard rover part. Should be able to pick one up for about £15.00 or so.

Afraid I can't remember the part number of hand but do try to get the original Lucas part and not an Intermotor equivalent as many people on here state that these make the cars run worse.

It's originally a Land Rover Part and the Part Number is ETC8496 although the Lucas one will do just as well.

Is it the same part for a late 97 (R reg) 450 model? Also is this the sensor located at the right handside top front of the engine (when standing in front of the car looking back)? I had heard that there are 2 temperature sensors, but have only found this one to date!

don't know if it is same part but it's the one you can see on top of the engine beneath all the HT leads as they emerge from the dizzie.

There is a second sensor on the swirl pot that's used for the fans [I think].

Leven do a cooling kit, with lower temperature stat...

Thats the otter switch, a different subject to what is being talked about here
