Is (nearly) everything you buy online cr*p!?
Discussion
Putting aside all the big chains, it appears that everything I buy online seems to be utter crap!!!
It seems to be that products of the crappiest quality are advertised in a glossy manner and once delivered the seller hopes that you will just accept how crap the product is and that you will not bother or justify the cost of trying to return it. This seems to of happened in the last year and is only getting worse. A lot of the firms offer you a partial refund to get rid of you, one even said without any contest, please accept a full refund and just give it to somebody else!!!
Anyone else identified this business model!?!
My latest rage is from a number of pictures delivered, none of the frames are as ordered, wrong colour and made of what can be described as the cheapest wood known to man. The pictures look to of been printed on a s
tty home printer! I wouldn't even hang them in the garage.
Other comedy purchases were a home sprinkler system that goes with the kids trampoline. This even had a really glossy movie to accompany it, when it arrived it was as if somebody had walked around a hardware store and put all the parts in a basket, then couldn't be f
ked to build it so just chucked it in a bag and posted it. Even funnier you couldn't connect it to a ****king UK tap.
My fear is with all the shops closing its hard to assess the quality of some products that are not branded by big names. This is now opening the door to piss takers who are now selling products that would usually find their way to landfill only.
GRRRRRRR!!
Edited to say - These werent "cheap" items!!

Well the 'average' person is happy with cr@p - whether it be no-frills flights, consumer electronics or app-based taxi services - the most popular choices online will often be crap. So spend a bit of time finding a quality supplier of the stuff you want rather than lazily going to the first thing that Amazon/Google suggests.
No-frills flights, consumer electronics or app-based taxi services tend to work, so we use them.
We are talking about the crap stuff that is so cheap it doesn't work.
Bit like quotes for jobs.
Middle ground is generally ok !
Cheapest quote is usually a crap job with crap materials.
And we dont want to pay the top money.
If its too good to be true -
It usually is ?

Seems a lot of folk shop online for price.
Always picking the lowest price.
As we know
Cheap = Rubbish.
Buy cheap, buy twice my old man told me.
He was right !
Depends on your personal definition of value and what constitutes that Always picking the lowest price.

It would seem so OP.
I own and operate a successful auto parts and accessory store and i have noticed a large uptick of customers coming into my store asking for XYZ and then as i ring them up they comment about how the one they just got off of Amazon was total garbage and they "should have known better."
Happened alot lately with front license plate relocator kits. Amazon's is 20 some odd dollars and plastic with no instructions and no proper mounting hardware despite what the ad says. Mine is not plastic, comes with instructions AND all necessary hardware.
Happens alot with LED head lights. People buy a set for $25 and are in my store a few months later buying my set.
Edited to add that my store makes key copies as well (both home and auto/chipped/laser cut) and i cannot even keep count anymore the amount of folks who come in to me to have a key done correctly after having it done at Home Depot or a auto key copying vending machine placed around K Mart.
Quite often.

No.
I have an issue with scope creep when purchasing though and I hate cheap crappy stuff. When I decide I need/want something I research it exhaustively which always leads me to discover there is a slightly better one than is a bit more, then an even better one, then the bestest most expensivest one possible which would be suitable for full time commercial use, I end up buying that one even when a cheap crappy one might do.

Ebay is good for this as their buyer protections are ridiculously strong.
Usually if you complain you get a full refund. A couple of times I've had to post stuff back at their cost, which is a bit of a faff.
The last one that really took the piss was 20 pendent bulbs that were clearly labelled as LED, they arrived as 60w incandescent bulbs, worth about 30p each the seller played hard ball offering increasingly large discounts until eventually I got my money back.
Ebay is good as a buyer, almost pointless trying to sell on there though. The missus sold some clothes, apparently around 1 in 4 items never arrived posted via RM and when the items worth £2 it's pointless fighting it so they just get refunded and you're left itemless.
