Hi,

I’m quite a purist when it comes to cars, and therefore I’m not a fan of modding cars at all. I always think Porsche (or any other manufacture) know better than me and most other people in terms of how a car should be tweaked, etc BUT...

I’m also aware that their hands are tied due to government restrictions, etc... so I was considering an ‘upgrade’ to the exhaust in the hope for a more iconic NA sound.

Apologies if this has been covered before, but:

A - does an upgrade such as this void warranty - https://www.instagram.com/p/B5Z0n5tFGNv/?igshid=e7... - or should it be ok if the original exhaust is put back on, etc?

B - is anyone else considering any other exhaust upgrade?

I’ll probably chicken out at the thought of changing something ‘pure’ on the car when it comes to it : )

A - under factory warranty under the first 3 years Porsche would need to prove that the mod caused an issue. So it would depend what the modification was. A changed silencer is unlikely to affect fuelling etc but removal of cats/GPFs probably would. You pays yer money you takes your choice.

B -no, I'm no planning on changing anything as my car is likely to be a long term keeper and I'll run the extended Porsche warranty when the time comes.

As an owner of a 981GT4 I see the quieter exhaust of the 718 version as a plus point. You should have less noise issues at track days than we do. It's a bummer going on a track day and being black flagged for breaking the noise limit, as the 981 GT4 is prone to do at some circuits.

I have had the pleasure of both 987 and 981 Spyders and the noise on the last one made it for me. Running a 991.2 GT3
and I have just fitted a JCR superlight bypass and it makes the car. The JCR exhaust is top quality compared to some.
