does anyone on here have one of these?

I am looking to upgrade my pocket camera and this looks good, I have had a Canon before and am very happy with it (except the battery!),

all thoughts much appreciated,

I had to scrap an Ixus because some specs of dust got into the gubbins. Search the web for E18 errors and make up your own mind.

see what you mean!

mind you I have that ixus in the photo and it is still fine (except as I said for the battery - which is now good for a max of 10 photos!)

I've recently bought the 700 as I wanted something pocket sized that I could carry when I didn't fancy carrying my SLR with me.

First impressions are that it's very good.

It's fast to start, focus and take the photo, battery life is excellent and it's very light and small. It's also easy to use, especially if you've used Canon cameras before - I bought mine in Italy, and it didn't take long to figure out how to use it despite Italian instructions!

Only niggles so far are that the casing is quick to scuff, and that the zoom range isn't fantastic, but that's the price you pay for such a small camera I guess.

thanks all,

agree with the review - as you say it is a camera to put in your pocket - not for perfect pictures.

will also check out those batteries - mind you might be tempted by the 700 as well!

Had a 700 for a couple of weeks now, good point and shoot.
Automatic metering sometimes a bit hit-and-miss, far easier on manual with any sort of contrast.
