Currently I have my broadband with BT and have a Homehub 6, I find my Ring door bell is always complaining my wifi signal low its and its not that far from the router but there is 2 solids walls in the way. I also want to put another Ring camera up I bit further away from the current one so I need to extend range. Would I be better off with an improved router and replace my Homebub or should I just get an wifi extender thing that plugs in ?

cheers

I’m interested in one too.
There’s a thread on here called ‘weapons grade’ or something similar. It’s a long thread but think it covers the best options.

Well, there's this recent one - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
or the Weapons Grade, slightly older but a lot longer, one - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Recently bought a plug in signal booster from argos. Think it was 17 quid. Made a huge difference. In my 4 story townhouse we had virtually no signal on top floor. Router on ground floor. Now I can stream video on top floor as easily as if I was next to router box.
For a small outlay a cheap range extender is worth a try.

The problem I see is that everybody’s house is different and what works for some is rubbish for others. Those extenders which plug into mains sockets rarely worked and markedly cut the speed. For what it’s worth, I’ve got these and now have the same internet speed (>100 Mb/sec) all over my three storey thick-walled house by plugging into by stty Virgin hub.

before you go out buying all the extenders and stuff, try splitting the 2.4ghz and 5ghz signals in the BT hub admin. the 2.4ghz is the one you should connect devices to that have walls in the way, this worked for me.
