Nice. It may be a Black Friday deal so be wary of that. Even so, it should be valid for a few more days.

One thing to mention is double check the MacBook you’re looking at on the Curry’s website is definitely the same spec.

If you’re unsure I can check for you if you provide me with both links.

All of the above aside, it is quite common for retailers/resellers to be cheaper than the Apple Store direct on certain product lines.

May be a previous version/older model?

Maybe because they sense it’s going to be replaced soon.

It’s a smart bet since the 16” has just come out, replacing the 15” entirely, and has a totally new keyboard design meant to alleviate all the previous issues (of their own making)

I just sold my 15” recently after buying a new one, keyboard was working fine but the fact it had just fallen out of AppleCare+ and Apple themselves have abandoned the design is not a great selling point.

Check the model number carefully, could be the older model.

We bought an iPad Air a couple of weeks ago from Currys, £29 cheaper than the apple store, and six months interest free credit.

Also, unbeknown while buying it, the salesperson reckons that we should get an email in a couple of weeks time giving us another 5% cash back for some reason. Worth checking if that’s still in force, as it’s a decent chunk back out of a Mac.

Apple do this fairly frequently to increase sales; they never discount products through their own stores but will discount stock to 3rd party retailers so they can offer them at sale prices. What Apple are doing this year is offering gift cards when you buy from them; a mac purchase would get you a £160.

Just a note on warranties; JL do give a 2 year warranty, but Apple are also aware and conform to consumer law (even though they don’t advertise it widely to “steer” people into taking Apple Care. I’ve had stuff repaired beyond their own 1 year warranty.

I can also get 8% off Curry’s gift voucher through work. Handy when buying Apple Watch 5 the other week. Also works in sales as it’s a gift voucher..

I get Apple Employee discount and the 8% off
Curry’s through work. It’s cheaper to buy at Curry’s than it is from Apple when comparing both discounts!

Also remember the reduced warranty at curry’s if you buy through a business.

I bought a MacBook Pro recently at an Apple store and the sales guy (unprompted) did a check online and price matched - great service!

I drove out to John Lewis on a Saturday morning about a year ago to buy mine.

Went to the display machines and collared an assistant - 'I'll take one of these, please'.

'Sorry Sir, we don't keep them in stock. You can order and collect in the week.'

This was at a large out-of-town JL store (York).

You may be similarly disappointed if you wanted to buy today!

Drove straight into town and got what I wanted from an authorised Apple reseller. Same price as JL and 3 year warranty instead of 2 at JL.

Depending which specific model you're looking for (core i5 comes in 1.4ghz and 2.3ghz), the Apple Refurb store has up to £260 off...or you can buy completely new and get up to £160 in vouchers.

Refurbished 2019 13.3-inch MacBook Pro 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 with Retina display & touch bar - Space Grey - 8GB/256GB is £1439 (£260 off).

Refurbished 2019 13.3-inch MacBook Pro 1.4GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 with Retina display & touch bar - Space Grey - 8GB/256GB is £1269 (£230 off).

Don't forget that the 13" models still have the old style 'fragile' butterfly keyboard - and the only difference between the mid-18 and mid-19 13" models in the tiny bump in speed from 2.3ghz to 2.4ghz, and the revised 3rd gen butterfly keyboard.
