5 doors, tall boot area/vertical rear window
Discussion
Hi all. The other half is going to need a new car early 2020. We were going to go with an EV leased through the business and take advantage of 0% BIK but we've not been trading long enough to get that done so need a stop gap for at least a year. It's usage will generally be short journeys of less than 5 miles. It needs to easily deal with two young kids and a large(ish) dog. Her current car is a 5door Leon which is almost okay but sloping rear hatch is a problem for the dog as he cannot really sit up right and hence never really settles in that car where as he's fine in my large estate. But other half doesn't want or need anything quite that long (quiet at the back!), just needs the right shaped boot, probably with a vertical rear window line if that makes sense.
I think generally this is pointing us towards small 4x4 type cars but that's not nailed on if there is other stuff to consider. I did suggest a Defender which she was surprisingly keen on but alas 3 door and daft money for what you get but I guess the message there is something slightly whacky would definitely be an option. Budget could probably be anything up to about £10k but since it might be quite short term somewhere closer to £5k would probably feel more sensible. No real age criteria.
The list doesn't look very exciting at present so happy to extend it or rule some out.
RAV4
Vitara
CRV
Yeti
Duster (not sure about these but friends have one and like it)

I'd say a Mazda5 fits the bill you can get a very good one for around 5k (or a bit less if you don't mind some miles on the clock) & you'll have a nice amount of space too.
