Infentorides kits

Has anyone tried the kids toy kits from https://www.infentorides.com/ Like Meccano that you can build ride on toys with, pricey but gets good reviews.

I'm thinking there could be just as much big kid building time in them as little kids play time! My little one is mad keen for an electric ride on car from Santa but I just can't bring myself to buy one of the plastic monstrosities knowing that the steering will probably meet an untimely end on a kerb or something and then it'll be scrap.
