Hi Folks,
Looking to move as its using the same network, but I can end up with 100GB data as apposed to 27gb on the contract I'm on at EE for the same price. I'll also receive a sound bar from BT thanks very much. Also includes extra fast speeds etc and BT sport.

On EE I can throw from the BT Sport app any programmes to my TV using screen sharing.

Can I do this on BT? I've read varying posts on forums and isn't clear whether this is possible.

thanks

No reason why not... I I'm on o2, I have the BT Sport App and Chromecast (using an iPhone) works fine. No reason why you shouldn't be able to cast a BT Mobile device to your TV.
If you have the latest Samsung TV the BT Sport app is on there so like Netflix, Prime, you can sign in and away you go.

Well thats what I thought but I know that SKY do not allow casting or screen sharing from their app, and thats what BT mobile are saying?! On my LG C8 its called screen sharing and works from BT Sport App on EE (standard BT app).

Anyone on BT Mobile who can confirm?

I work for BT.... I have BT TV and BT Sport via the App... so I know casting definitely works.
Sky don't allowing casting from a device from a mobile. I have Sky Go as well, I run that on a PC and connect to the TV with an HDMI cable.

EE are doing 100 gb sim only for £22.50 a month for a few more days.
Jbl sound bars are cheap if you want one,

EE Also offer “swappable benefits” for a few quid extra normally, bt sport, amazon video, or no data use packages when listening to music or watching video online.

Well BT Mobile doesn't work on TV Screen Sharing. It just says its not available.
You have the app on your phone... Do you have Google Chromecast plugged into your HDMI port?

it does work! After I cleared the systems cache it was OK smile

Thanks HighwayStar

Just rang EE and they couldnt get anywhere near to the BT offer. I'd also lose BT sports after 3 months if I did switch to a non smart plan.

That's a relief... I sensed a rant coming, especially after I'd advised it would work. I think at some point we need to run with one brand, rebrand BT Mobile as EE and go with that. anyway. Glad it's working, we do have quite a few happy customers out there. wink

yes that'd make sense to rebrand as one or t'other.

The guy at BT suggested going through BT directly meant that the speeds would be slightly quicker. Is that so??

Not sure what you mean... BT directly as in BT Mobile as apposed to EE?

I'm a happy BT customer - Infinity 1 fibre customer originally as we need the hotspot option for our caravan (zero mobile reception from any network) and we create a network over a W10 PC when there and do WiFi calling. Moved from 3 to BT for mobile six months ago, night and day for reception indoors. Plus free BT sport - £40pm, hard to argue with that 😀

That's great... I think one of our problems is we don't market our products, what we offer and what we can do very well. We're getting there though.

I've been with BT internet, TV and mobile for some years now. I'm on Superfast Halo 2 (I think), or whatever they call it now, with fibre.

I don't watch a lot of TV, and have found the fairly basic package, with BT Sport, more than enough for me. The price was lower than a Sky equivalent package by some distance when I first took it out but there's been some narrowing of the gap.

Their internet package is great. I took it out when I up/downloaded videos for my rugby club. BT was, and remains, fast and consistent. We had one break in service, due to a car driving into a telephone box (wrong name I know) and I lost about 30 hours of connection. There was an apology, an explanation (I could see the damage from my office window) and a cut in subscription for a month.

Mobile is 4G and 6gig for me, 5gig for my wife. I've not gone over my monthly allowance and my wife hasn't gone over 1gig.

Each 18-month period the overall price has gone down. Not by much on the last showing - a couple of quid or so - but I'm happy with it.

Coverage with EE is the best I've experienced, and better than my kids', at least the ones not on BT. They often have to borrow my phone.

Some say it is not perfect. Of course it's not. For me though, I've had no complaints.

I don't use BT hotspots normally although when I lost service I discovered that there was one local to me, showing on my desktop. I connected to it. It was slow but I was able to send off my work, although I did not try video. It was BTwifi with Fon. It's still available I see.

Lol... I thought it was what you meant... I won't go into the detail but BT Mobile sits on EE's network and as you know EE is now BT owned. Speeds through BT Mobile won't be any quicker. Not a big issue in this case but getting accurate information is important. That could be the difference in getting a sale or.... a customer buys on advice only to find the product was never going to work. Or, being told sorry no it won't do that, when in fact it would and a sale is lost.
Residential and mobile and not what I deal with in BT but I know a bit... At least you got what you wanted and a great deal, you'll probably tell a few people spread the word...

Derek... good stuff. Glad everything is working for you. I waiting to find out more about our Halo offering, meaning will it rolled into our employee benefits, free broadband and tv etc.

The hotspots depends on whether your neighbours/local businesses etc have BT, a portion of the bandwidth is allocated to the hotspot (you can opt out of the service but then can't use the hotspots)
I bought a long range USB WiFi antenna, plugs in to the PC at the caravan and I pick up from one of three neighbours - I believe you get upto 10% of their bandwidth, we usually get between 3-8mb down 2-3 up and it'll run iplayer/Netflix fine, Sky Go isn't so great TBH. But year on year we've went from 0.01mb when we could pick up a very vague mobile signal to what we have now and it hasn't really cost us any money at all, BT wanted £1k+ just to stick a line in to the 'van!

Also EE took over the first responders contract here on the Scottish West Coast from Vodafone and its essentially gone from 2G at best to fairly good 4G coverage - I'd taken a phone on contract with EE and started getting coverage indoors, handset was faulty so I cancelled the contract and went SIM only on BT, doubt I'll move away from them now.

FWIW, we went from EE (Their family SIM offerring) to BT Mobile well over a year ago....

Paying £55 a month for three SIMS, all with unlimited SMS, calls and 100gb data each. Previously was £57 for 20gb each.....erm.....work that one out?

Their prices when you click on ''Change Plan' vary wildly from week to week, we dont use the 100gb data really, so I am looking to drop down to about 40 or 50gb each for around £40 or less a month..... hoping that a deal drops at some point :-)

The BT Mobile element has far better pricing than EE thou and I cant seem to have noticed any drop in performance or availability as is possible with an MVNO, as technically, BT Mobile are an MVNO of the EE network, despite now owning EE.

I've just received a bit of a shock! If you send a text message on BT with an emoji, they convert it to MMS and charge 40p per message - rather than it being inclusive in your allowance of SMS!!!!!!!!

Anyone thinking of moving to them, BEWARE
