Thought I would share tales of my good deed this morning.

I just popped into my local Co-op to get some refreshments for the day. At the checkout there was a bit of a queue as an elderly gent was struggling to count up the coins for his shopping. You could see on the till it said £12.48 but he could only find £11 or so in change.

As the queue was starting to grumble I went up and offered to help him put everything back on the shelves.

Funny joke!
On the real world I hope you actually got him £1.48 from your pocket instead... there are Christmas cards more expensive than that... I would.

In the real world I would have paid his full shopping then posted on LinkedIn how humble I felt to help this chap out.

I'm glad it's not just me noticing that LinkedIn has turned into a swamp for the most cringeworthy self back-patting bilge imaginable.

Not on LinkedIn but if that’s the case that is sad. whenever I help someone on a charitable way I do not feel the need to mention it to anyone else and in a few occasions where a list of “benefactors” is published I never understood why there should any other option to to tick anonymous... afterall I always think the focus should be the group/individual/institution that is being helped not the individual help them... if he is truly charitable.

A bloke I know who constantly humblebrags did it about the Palace v Bournemouth game the other night. Normally he would even mention he's watching that, but the fact it was on Amazon Prime and he has it, he told the whole world with an update "xxxx xxxxxx is watching Crystal Palace v Bournmouth on AMAZON PRIME.

mainly make me gag reading LinkedIn,

"We are midway through an Agile Cloud data transformation leveraging synergies of the digital data warehousing and Amazon Web Services and DevOps and are looking for energized and motivated digital evangelists to do Big Data neural Machine Learning Artificial Intelligence Cloud type things."

Translates as, we want a bored looking podgy bloke on £50 and hour to sit at a keyboard and try and make some sense of the above in between looking on the Daily mail and Amazon.

Also, include some photos of the attractive younger staff (usually female) dressed up looking idiotic doing some enforced wackiness and jollity for charidee, "we raised £15.61 famished badgers" at our gala dinner last night and got the office fittees to dress up most provocatively in see through Pudsey bear costumes.

I thought I was the only one who had connected to the 'Tool Section' on Linkedin.

Seems to be a millennial thing, helping people out, then announcing on the interweb for people to recognise what a great person you are...

I have done a few small gestures because despite being 49 I still remember when a random woman bought me an ice cream on a sunny day when I was a kid

I'm sure she didn't even post it on the internet wink

The number of job ads exactly like that, massive turn off from applying, can't make head or tails out of it
