1 series automatic stuck in park
Discussion
Hi All,
I recently purchased a 2015 M135i automatic with a damaged engine. I have since replaced the engine and gearbox and reinstated the original engine ECU.
Today I had a laptop engineer who only programs BMW‘s and knew a great deal about the modules and software attend to reset and amend the VIN number with the EGS module as I had a VIN mismatch in the fault list. I assumed this was causing the car to be stuck in park.
now the car is still stuck in park after having all the modules in the car updated and gearbox adaptations reset. But now there are no fault codes being displayed!!
can anyone offer some advise, Ive left the battery disconnected tonight in the vein hope it might help!

I've no idea, but I think I'd probably be asking on https://www.babybmw.net/
I’m not sure about BMW’s, but on other cars, there’s a park/neutral signal that interconnects the Transmission, Engine and Body control modules. But unless a wire’s been damaged or the transmission module connector’s not on properly, it’s difficult to imagine what could have gone wrong.
By the sound of it, the technician had comms to the transmission module... He didn’t spot anything when looking at live data ?
I take it, it’s s known working gearbox and module ?
Edit... Did the gearbox come with a module, or are you using the original one ?

Thank you for the replies.
I'm using the gearbox module that came with the engine and gearbox. I bought them as fully working as advised by the seller. I'm reluctant to change the modules over as I have my original gearbox ECU but i need to drain the fluid and remove seals from both gearboxes and I'm sure its something simple that i'm over looking.
The engineer after the reprogramming/module updating had no errors showing and live data checked the brake pedal function and gear shift release button.
