Best Hot Hatch of the 21st Century – as nominated and voted by PH
Yes we all love a 205 GTI, Mk1 Golf GTI and Lancia Delta Integrale. But what about something more modern from the last 20 years?
Nominations have taken place and in no particular order, your top 10 cars are listed above. Now's your chance to have your say on your all time favourite.
Closing date for voting: 12th December
If there's one thing you vote for on the 12th – make sure it's your favourite hot hatch!

Straight to the vote eh? Maybe a knockout competition would have been more fun! Anyway, Renault fans will be torn!
Shame we only have 10 rows for our poll as I would have liked to add more, but to be honest there's a big difference between the top 5 and everything else below. But now people have to make one choice instead of three, it'll be interesting to see what wins!Had to go with the Megane, based on my own personal experiences.
It was a close run decision as I almost went with the Mk5 Golf GTI. It might not be "the best", but when it came out at the time I'd argue it was that and the Mk2 Focus ST which re-ignited the hot-hatch sector, so worthy of a nomination

Out of that list, none of these hot hatches are as raw and involving as a 172 cup (although the 182 Trophy comes close).
Sadly, there’ll never be anything quite like it again.
Completely agree, and why the cracking 172 Cup gets my vote! I really do believe it's the closest 'modern' equivalent to the 205 GTi......Sadly, there’ll never be anything quite like it again.
I voted for the Clio 182 Trophy.
I've not been lucky enough to own any of the vehicles on the shortlist...but going off what i've read and heard, the Clio did what all of the others did....for less. As well as being as much or more fun than most. Renault just do (or did) this kind of thing so well.
I know the 172 Cup was the lighter, more basic, simpler one - but the Trophy for me is the one.
Looking back at the basics back then....for me....having a small car like a Clio with a 2.0 engine and 182bhp is just...excellent. Maybe not as remarkable now.
My second choice would be the Civic Type R. I recall i was £15,995 at launch which for 2.0, 200ps VTEC goodness...was amazing. I'm just more drawn to the Clios, personally.

The V6 Clio is never a hot hatch.
Must admit, surprised to see it included VW: we’re going to develop a 3ltr Lupo
Renault: right, hold my beer
.....
Renault: oh, that was code for a super-efficient 3ltr/100km eco diesel model... ah, I see.
By the way nice matching lab coats...
Well f

And it’s a bit mental...
