Stopped going to the gym about 5 months ago, arms were strong and in good shape. Started doing a house up so just didn’t have the time to work out 3 times a week so cancelled membership. About 2 months ago every morning they ache and just feel weak, right a lot more than the left. It’s painful all the time on the inside of my elbow, can’t twist my wrist and the arm strength has diminished considerably. It’s like I’ve torn a tendon or something. Tried and failed twice to see the doc so not had an expert opinion. I’m 55 and in good shape otherwise. I’ve tried resting it for a week but didn’t really help.
Any ideas welcome.

Sounds like classic tendonitis to me - when you flex your arm, as if you were posing with your arm up, if you rotate your fist (facing towards you to away), does it hurt all the time or just in one plane, so to speak?

It'll be too much of a particular exercise/motion that it doesn't like - lots of rest.

But, I'd get it checked out by a Doc or Physio as I could be a million miles off.

Hope you get it sorted. I had similar, was horrible.

Golfer’s elbow?

You mention house renovation. Have you been laying bricks or picking up heavier than everyday things with a pinch grip?

A trigger might be reaching up into a kitchen wall cupboard and picking up a bag of sugar/jam jar etc?

Could you hold a hammer horizontally and knuckle up in your right hand and rotate it clockwise 180 degrees so you’re palm up then back again?

Have a read/watch videos by clicking right. https://instagram.com/p/BxaKjowhQVC/

If the pain is on the outside of the elbow it could be tennis elbow https://instagram.com/p/BxKnaIZBdpZ/

You can buy cheap supports to help. ionocore® Elbow Support Brace - Golf & Tennis Elbow Arm Strap - Lightweight and Adjustable with EVA Compression Pad - One-Size (1) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06XC9TW57/ref=cm_sw_r...

If it is one of the above it’s an annoying PITA but will usually sort itself out in 6-8 wks. Go see a physio for a proper diagnosis.

Agree with the two above.

Investigate buying a FlexBar.

Try and avoid activities which irritates them.

You can’t really rest it away you need to stimulate some healing.

I think the above posters are probably right, but I had severe arm and shoulder pain for a few weeks and it turned out to be a bulging disc in my neck

Just old age, wear and tear my ex physio wife tells me. Wait until you are 66, few hours on my knees lifting carpets, grippers, staples you'll know about it.
Glad I live in a bungalow, can't manage stairs more than about once an hour.. without knee pain.

Thanks for the replies chaps, I’ve got a week in Egypt to rest it in early January so see if that helps. In the meantime I’ll persist with it, having a manual job definitely doesn’t help.

Are you seeping in a weird position?
I once knew a nutterlad in the gym who arm became paralysed for over a year due to sleep.
