As my current freestanding gas cooker is getting long in the tooth, and at leat one function is behaving in the manner that it may soon pack in, I've been doing some preliminary groundwork, for a replacement .
Basic spec is , freestanding, 3 different hob burner sizes, 2 ovens, (both thermostatic) and top oven to have a grill facility.

However, on viewing a number of different models, it seems the majority have electric grill, not gas. I've never had a good impression of electric grills when forced to use them, found them slow, and less controllable than gas versions.
This all seems a bit puzzling to me, and at the end of the day , if I have to have an electric grill , then thats how it will be.

Thing is though, has anyone any idea as to why this proliferation of electric grills , on otherwise gas cookers has come about, . Is it a "fashionable" design for some reason, or some other reason, anyone know?

I can't remember the last time I used a grill.

Are you saying the oven and hobs are gas and the grill electric?

If so it does seem strange.

I’m a fan of a gas hob but much prefer an electric oven. I can see why you would end up with an electric grill with that setup.

Thats exactly it. Everything gas aside the electric grill. Historically, from my memory "Dual fuel" usually meant Gas hob, electic fan oven/grill. This setup with just the grill electric, does not make sense to me.

Thats the sort, yes. This is one of 2 I have found with a gas grill (the others a Hotpoint ) I did try to download the owners manual from the leisure site, but they seem to need a serial number. . From the image it seems both ovens are thermostatic, and looks like there are 3 hob burner sizes, . Problem is the 2 colours offered would look out of place in the kitchen and of course, I prefer to have hands and eyes on a purchase of this type.
