Hi, as title really. The washing machine is still under warranty and an engineer has been out and fixed it. On describing the circumstances, he'd diagnosed the problem without laying a hand on the machine, saying it would be a split hose used on the drying cycle, and it would be caused by the concrete on the drum rubbing through it. This was subsequently shown to be correct.

It was fixed under warranty at no extra cost to us, fair enough. However, the plinths and floor in the kitchen, which is less than 2 years old, have suffered from sitting in water. Given the the machine has a known fault which has caused this, I'm not too chuffed with the idea that either I or my house insurance pays for repairs. I have no experience of what is or isn't reasonable in these circumstances, do I just accept that it's happened and the repairs are my problem, or should I be having a discussion with the manufacturer of the machine? From what little I read online, apparently there is a consumer act that suggests I should pursue them. I won't if it isn't the usual protocol, but if it's something that is reasonable to do, I will.
