thread deleted question...

Mods - if you delete a thread would it be possible to at least let the OP know why? Either the thread itself is unsuitable, in which case it'd be good to know so that the OP doesn't make the same mistake and risk a spell on the naughty step (or a banning), or else someone on the thread is being inappropriate, in which case why not delete their post and let discussion continue?

If a thread is deleted it automatically generates a deletion mail to the OP of the thread, we as mods would type in the reason for deletion.

The mail could end up in your junk/spam folder, it may not be received owing to the fact that your email is out of date.

We all assume rightly or wrongly that the OP receives these mails.

well a little more feedback for you chap - I've not received anything (spam folder or otherwise) regarding the deletion of the Rude Women Drivers thread (though I have received previous notices about being on the naughty step)....

Well thanks for the feedback CHAP, that thread, the reason you haven't received a deletion email is simple really, it hasn't been deleted! just moved off the forum for safe keeping. Unsavoury and condescending comments and stuff.

fair play old boy (by the by, I hope that the chap comment didn't offend - certainly not my intention!) - many thanks for the explanation was worried that I'd have another "time-out" and not have a clue why!!

We do try to inform members of any so called "time outs" saying that there is no notification at present of thread/forum bans. But it's on the list.
