Received a letter from these people yesterday https://www.profilepensions.co.uk/product/missing-...
No intention of using them but is this the next PPi ?
'We trace and explain what you have and how we might be able to make you better off
2.95% deducted from the value of your pension'

Whilst it is certainly spam, at least it is not a scam!
They are fully FCA authorised and regulated to do what they are offering and this is just a method to attract new clients by doing some genuine work for free, in the hope that you will then go on to take their recommendation to switch somewhere else as part of the process (for a fee taken out of your collective pensions - 2.95% upfront and 0.6% a year, which they claim is optional).
I would be wondering where they got your details to right to you though...

2.95% of monies you didn't know you had so wouldn't have been looking for seems OK.
How would you trace missing pensions if you wanted to do it yourself?
Hi mateHow would you trace missing pensions if you wanted to do it yourself?
This is free, but you need to have idea of who the providers were for a personal pension. For workplace pensions you just use the name of the companies you worked for:

I'm not sure this is anything like PPI.
But, as they're only talking about SERPS which is a government run scheme, why not just ask HMRC or DWP. I'm not sure which as HMRC deal with pension years from NI payments and I assume DWP deal with money actually recorded against SERPS.
Yep, for SERPS you just contact HMRC and they do this for free. But, as they're only talking about SERPS which is a government run scheme, why not just ask HMRC or DWP. The link I posted might be helpful for other types of pensions and is also free.
Basically this is a bit of a gimmick in order to lure you into a pension review and switch.
If you are wanting to try and trace any non State pensions, use the government's official site, as stated earlier, known as the Pensions Tracing Service. It's free to all users. Beware that there are many other similar looking websites available where organisations are offering something free, BUT also a pensions review etc, the outcome of which is definitely not free.
