Brand new Acer lap top.
Trying a download version of Office 2016.
Keep getting Set up failed, rolling back changes.

Now when I download the link, it goes to "Downloads" on C:\ drive. When I open the download the files are on D:\ drive. Except I only have one SSD drive.
So I think it's looking for something that's not there. Tried copying everything over into a folder in "Programmes" and opening but no further forward.
Any suggestions please

1 SSD doesn’t mean you can’t have C:, D:, E:… You can partition a drive into multiple mounts/drive letters

Sorry, yes, accept that, it actually labels it D:\DVD. no DVD drive installed

When you say download version is this an official MS product or some hooky cheapo software? If it's the latter I wonder if it's a rip from a DVD & the installer is looking for the disc? Just a guess.

Is the file a .iso file? Some of those will mount themselves as if they're a second drive, but usually you need to burn them to a CD or extract them to your hard drive to get them to install.

I've had the same recently trying to install SQLServer Manager, Windows acts as if it can install from a zipped up file, then fails in a way that it's not immediately obvious that that's the problem.
