Speeding Fine/points

My girlfriend got a letter over the weekend. She was speeding. One of them roads were 40mph turns into 30Mph. So she was doing 44mph in a 30.

IT was a Notice of Prosecution (NIP). The letter wanted to know who the driver was. She sent the letter back today, naming her as the driver.

So what happens next? Will it be a court appearance? It sound very serious.

what is the penalty? I have read online that it is 3 points and £100, but on some websites it states that it can be 100% of your weekly wage.

44 in a 30 is too fast for a speed awareness course. Most likely it'll be a FPN: £100 and 3 points. If for any reason they do take her to court or she is silly enough to not accept the FPN it's a band-B fine which could be 1 weeks wages

if they take her to court, can she plead guilty?

As you have already been advised it won’t go to court so there is nothing to plead guilty to.

Accept the fixed penalty of £100 and 3 points and that will be the end of the the matter

I got the same for 43 in a 30. 3 points and 100 fine.

In my case 1mph slower could have meant a course instead of points. The 3 points have done bugger all to insurance so not the worst thing ever.

An alleged 50mph in a 30mph limit.

Seems about right to me.

If she had stuck to 40mph in the 40 limit, she would have been ok for a coarse.

Hard lesson to learn but we all get there in time!

That's the Starting Point if convicted after trial.
