Poly Bushes For Griffs
Discussion
Hello all,
Here is something that might excite a number of you. I am putting my Griff on the road at long last as I am fed up of having a georgous ornament sitting in the garage!! So the first thing I wanted to do was replace the rear suspension bushes as I knew one had detatched from the the rubber bonding. I went to Powerflex on my way to work and asked for a complete set of poly bushes for the car. "Sorry sir, we don't do those anymore:yikes: BUT, we are working on some new ones.
They showed me one of the new ones which are nothing short of brilliant. It is the poly tophat shape similar the old ones, but inside is a teflon bearing and the stainless tube as before. The urethane is 95 shore rated, so has much rigidity, and the bearing is virtually frictionless. On the outside of the poly part is a plastic weather seal to prevent any moisture from contaminating the bearing. I moved the tube with my fingers and it is just as if it had a roller bearing in there. I have ordered a "test" set from them for some development work, but I cant see there being much of a problem. I am due to recieve them in a couple of weeks, and assuming they all fit, they should be available for all.

01246456660Just about to strip and refurb my suspension and put polybushes in.
Does everyone reuse the original bolts when you poly bush the wishbones?.
I have my superflex bushes here and noticed that the sleeves are stainless steel,This got me thinking should I be changing the bolts to stainless also so that i can isolate the two metal types with isolation washers to the chassis?
Also wasn't sure if the bolts are high yield. Also unsure of bolt torque settings for the suspension.
Does anyone have any advise on this?

The standard BZP ones are fine with a bit of copperslip (not applied as standard).Just renew the nylock nut. Tickle the exposed bolt ends with waxoyl and you should have no problems.
