I know it's a few generations old but I tend to stay a few behind anyway,. My iPhone 8 needs replacing now, they sell the 8 and the XR but not he XS? Seems odd.

It's a minefield on eBay trying to decipher which are genuine unused UK phones with Apple warranty remaining etc, any suggestions on where to get one from?

8 is the current budget model ... It's getting on for 3-4yrs old

11 are the current models that superceded the XS / XR range

The 8 is 2 years old, released in September 2017.

I have a boxed iPhone X in 'as new' condition... unlocked and not a mark on it. I bought it and then upgraded to an 11.

PM me if you're interested as I probably would accept a modest sum for it.

As far as I can see from a comparison site, the X is 3mm wider and 5mm taller. It's not a big phone. Same size as XS.

Apple tend to have a habit not selling the generation prior to the latest model, perhaps to do with the previous generation being similar in specification in a few ways to the newest one and not wanting it to steal sales of the latest gen product.
The Watch 4 for example is no longer sold new by Apple when they released the Watch 5 but they still sell the Watch 3.
