Not beeping

Odd. My D70 has stopped beeping when it locks focus.

The display shows the musical note, and the menu is set to Beep On.

It's a useful confirmation that it's found focus. Any ideas anyone?

Not linked to the software upgrade or anything? Is the viewfinder showing confirmation of focus? Is it firing (assuming you're on AF-C)? New batteries required....

Mine doesn't beep in AF-C mode - have you left it in that?

No, Yes and Yes. Battery indicator full. Everything else working fine.

AF-C? - hang on - hey, it only beeps on AF-S. Well, you learn something every day. I normally keep it on AF-S but was following some robots at the weekend...

Must admit, I just assumed that (and that it was a logical way to design) it would beep in both modes - i.e. let you know that you've hit focus and that shutter will release depending upon which mode.....

AF-C doesn't have to be in focus for shutter to release...
