Rejecting a car

Just looking for a bit of advice on this one, hopefully this is the right forum...
6 months and 3 days after buying a brand new Skoda Kodiaq it cut out on me on the motorway at 'motorway speeds', M40 going uphill, outside land in rush hour. So it's impossible to restart the car at this point, so a tricky exit to the hard shoulder happened. Restart car.
3 miles later, lane 2, filtering off to the M25, stop start traffic, I stop, don't start again. Get pushed to the hard shoulder.
Recovered back to the dealership.
Comes back fixed. 30 miles later same deal, happens as I'm crossing a busy junction. Manage to restart it after a few minutes. Back to the dealership. Fixed again.
This morning, Busy roundabout off the M25, same deal. Cut out. Starts. Moves 3 meters. Cuts out.
So at this point I want to open a discussion about rejecting a car with the dealership, and this is where I need some advice. The service receptionist says, yes, come down and we can talk. 10 minutes later the main receptionist says we won't talk to you until you've spoken to Skoda Finance (car is on a PCP). You have to speak to them, and also to the DP in writing before you can even talk to us.
Speak to Skoda Finance (you can tell where this is going...) They say they won't have anything to do with it, I have to go to the dealership.
Ring the dealership, nope, that's wrong. The DP is in though, but I doubt he will deal with you today.
What's the truth? Do I go via the finance company or the dealership? Can I start the conversation with the dealership is, I essentially want to see where they are going to position themselves, I'm happy to have a replacement car, but don't want my current one. I want to see if they are going to be idiots or actually want to come to the table and work out a resoultion that we are all happy with.

Essentially the finance company own the car so my understanding is that you should address your concerns with them and say you want to reject the car, they should (in theory) then approach the dealership for you.
Thanks, that's my understanding as well. However, they said as it's a mechanical fault it has to go via the dealership. ThisInJapanese said:

Weirdly a neighbour got a Kodiaq and rejected it. Not sure the reasons why but they'd owned it a good few months before it was returned.
Would be interested to know what the issue is. Mine just loses power and won't restart. No rhyme or reason, the engine just cuts out and that's that.Otherwise it's a great car (performance aside), it's the sweet spot between form, function and price I think.

Sorry to hear about the issues.
I recently had similar complaints with an Audi Q7. It was leased and I raised all queries through the finance company. They were ridiculously useless, however, they are regulated by the FCA to get the case to resolution within seven weeks. They did almost nothing for seven weeks and they panicked and rushed around to resolve. It may seem like an odd route, but they do have additional power to pull strings with VAG dealers and get DP etc to the table.
