Its Christmas Jumper Day, Organised by Save the Children and started by them in 2012.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas_Jumper_Day
https://www.savethechildren.org.uk/christmas-jumpe...

My works has a charity where money from that charity is spent on its staff, they have decided to let us wear Christmas Jumpers today but the money they collect they are keeping for their own charity and not passing it on the Save the Children.

Its a bit like Children in Need Day, having people wear a pudsey jumper, collecting cash and not giving it to Children in Need.

Am I fussing over nothing or are they royally taking the Pi55.

I suppose it's a bit off, but there's nothing stopping you giving a couple of quid to children in need as well.

It's not really in the spirit of the event is it?

But anyway I'm not wearing a jumper, haven't donated any money and I don't think I've seen anyone at work wearing one either. Ba humbug!

(Probably against the diversity policy anyway. Happy Holidays biggrin)

£20 on a ste jumper that you'll never wear again.

£2 to charity.

Makes no sense to me.

We did it on Wednesday as everyone works from home on Friday, it's only a small team.

Raised £30 via JustGiving, £10 via text donations and £40 in cash so I sent Save the Children £80 via Paypal.

Then the penny dropped. Oh well, good for the karma.

Save the Children it was - Yes I could but I dont like the fact our charity is ripping off another charity

Giving money to children's charity makes no sense?

What a odd comment.

I think it’s quite clear that the above poster thinks the £20 is better spent in the first place on the charity.

Ah but you can wear it again, albeit its kind of weird to wear it not at Christmas, but you can wear it on other days. If you want to, that is.

(Or like me, spend the money, then next year realise you've put on a few stone, and don't wear the jumper again)
