Advice for Mobile Crane Op Training
Discussion
Wondering if there are any mobile crane operators on PH ? If so , appreciate any feedback or advice you may have.
I have had 25 years offshore pedestal crane experience , both in operating and supervising, but now am back onshore and am thinking of getting my CPCS A60 training to gain employment for mobile cranes. ( I already have my class CE driving licence and valid CPC )
Main question would be , is there any additional benefit by doing my red card training with a well recognised trainer such as Ainscough , or is an A60 qualification with any smaller private training company going to cut the mustard with an employer ? ( just considering the cost equivalent really )
Also what is the normal average hourly rate for an operator ?
Thanks in advance for any help

Hi,not crane operator, but work in construction with lifting guys frequently
Never known anyone ask where training was done, guess if you were looking for work at ainscough ,using them might be beneficial?
As well as crane op have you thought about Ap/ crane supervisor,if you've supervisory experience?if you're in southern half of country plenty of work going once cp6/hs2 gets going on rail job

Thanks for reply. I’m up in NE of Scotland so bit far from the h2S work etc. But always plenty of work at the docks here I think as long as oil industry keeps buoyant and obviously all the other construction work etc. Never known anyone ask where training was done, guess if you were looking for work at ainscough ,using them might be beneficial?

And yes that was my way of thinking regards the Ainscough training versus maybe a smaller lesser known outfit.
Meantime I’ll keep googling and see what I turn up
Cheers
