I'm sure I'm not the only one who struggles with the image size limit. It's not 1998, most of us will be taking images on smartphones which default to higher resolutions and therefore have standard image sizes in excess of 2mb.
Cloud storage is very cheap, infact per mb it's the cheapest it's ever been.
Can we get the limit increased please
2mb was fine when we were using our Nokia's in 2002

Is this why PH is no longer letting me upload photos?

Definitely needs an update, but it needs to update the instructions to tell you to use your own cloud storage, and link to it, rather than relying on outmoded single cloud storage providers.

Being honest, if you can't figure that out on your own, not sure PH can provide much more.

Yup. PH hasn't used its own storage since I can remember, it piggybacked a storage service for ever. It's not like people don't have Google or Microsoft storage, and if they object to either of those, they know how to pick another one. After that, it's just using the [IMG] tags.
It's not like you're learning code biggrin

The error that comes up does not mention image size. It states something like "image can not be found"!

I believe the size limitation is dictated by the 3rd party... not PH

I think so too. But I don't recall PH explaining the problem - hence the many complaints about it. I'm just saying it's unfair to blame users as was done above.

Click on upload an image (beta).
The Thumbsnap dialog box says max size 2Mb. Not sure how that could be clearer?

Updating our photo uploader will be a future consideration I'm sure, but unfortunately we have other priorities at the moment.

As Randle says you can use another storage service (imgur, flickr etc), and then you can just paste the img link in here and it should work. There are some lovely big, HD, photos posted in here by some!

Once we do get round to updating the image uploader, we'll be sure to shout about it! But in the meantime, apologies for the inconvenience.

On an iPhone you can choose an image size when you select a photo to upload - medium/large seem to fit in the limit fine

Presumably Android has had this built in since 2009 or whenever wink

The error is dodgy. The "not found" text is a red herring but technically true as it will not upload it. There is additional text at the bottom of the error that states the images can be no larger than 2mb.

As has been said, use your own storage. If you have a google account or microsoft account you will already have some, iCloud i believe is trickier, beacause Apple.

Happy to write something up for various platforms but it's all in the help articles on google and help using the image tags on here isn't far away.

PITA, yes - but not insurmountable. Could be worse, they could start charging everyone for having the benefit of some cloud storage and limiting views. wink

Would it be a good idea to share a list of what your priorities are - perhaps it would help keep some peace?
