Audi A1 25TFSI 1.0 3 Cyl, 95 PS - Anyone driven?
Discussion
I'm looking at the 95 PS entry level A1 for my next company car and wanted to know if anyone has driven this engine, as all youtube reviews and tests seem to be based on the 115 PS '30' version which is not available to me,
I've done the high performance car thing to death now and just want a simple, small, economical car which is high quality inside and I love the new A1 design.
I'm just concerned whether the 95PS '25' engine is sufficient to get the job done?
I get that the 3 cyl engines have a course drone to them and have big flywheels to smooth them out which makes them ponderous to rev up and down etc, but I can cope with that.
Anyone driven one who can give a honest impression? None of my local dealers have a '25' in stock for me to drive.

Before we bought our Arona (115) we had a number of test drives. I concluded that the 95 was perfectly acceptable, but because my other car is a 300bhp+ BMW I wanted the quicker engine - hence going for the 115.
I think you'll be fine with it, it's certainly economical and the A1 comes with plenty of toys.

I've not tried the 95 but did have a new 2012 A1 for 3 years in 1.6tdi manual guise then a 3 çyl 140 Fiesta and now a 115 Arona DSG. Used to faster AMG and Porsche too. I'd be worried that the 95 is too slow when you have more than 1 up. Around town I'm sure it would be fine but doing longer journeys or with passengers might be a bit breathless.
The Mrs has a 19 plate 1.0 30 TFSI A1 in Sline trim, auto - pretty nippy around town (her last car was a 17 plate A3 1.4 TFSI COD Sline), the A1 feels just as powerful as her old A3.
Had the A1 out on light motorway work and it was fine, probably not the best car for gunning up and down motorways on a regular basis.

I've tried the 95PS in a new Ibiza and found it adequate enough. Not quick by any stretch of the imagination but suited the car and it could hold its own on the motorway and never felt overly stressed. For comparison my daily driver at the time was a 230PS Audi TT which I guess is the same engine as your GTI.
I've also driven the 30 TFSI A1 which felt stronger than the Ibiza but wasn't a huge difference. Felt like most the extra power was higher up the rev range.
