Outgoing model winter bargains or not?
Discussion
For a while i've been eyeing up a 1290 super duke r, All being well I had it in mind that summer 2020 I might be able to buy one, however with the new 2020 bike coming out there are what appears to be some very good deals on them at the moment.
Are these genuine bargains that once gone will mean I end up paying more for a secondhand bike if I wait till spring/summer, or are they a sign of things to come with the outgoing model?
You can get a pre reg 2019 R for £10,999 if you shop about, cheaper than a lot of secondhand 2018s up for sale at the moment.

Depending on which side of the fence you’re on, KTM are one of the worst/best manufacturers for discounting previous model bikes. If you buy a new model and even if you buy one just as hits the showrooms expect to lose around 5K in the first two years, probably more with above average mileage. On the other hand, you could pick up a heavily discounted clearance bike, keep it for two years and then sell it on and buy the next heavily discounted model.
Having bought a few new KTM’s the one I have now will be my last new purchase from them. Although having the latest gismo’s in nice, KTM’s business model makes it way too expensive for me. Next time I’ll just wait until the model is discounted and buy a 70’s classic with the saving.
