Considering getting either the Moto G7 (Amazon Exclusive @ £179) or Moto G7 Play (£109) for the wife who currently has a Moto G5s which has been fine but is slowly giving up.

Just wondered if anyone has the G7 play and are they pleased with it? Or wished they had gone for the better G7? I am sure the play version would be fine although the 2Gb RAM seems slow compared to most phones now.

2gb ram really isn't enough TBH, my old G4+ plus had 3gb and that was four generations ago. It's only a 720p screen, again my G4+ had 1080p.

The G7 plus is £180 at Currys for the 4gb/64gb version but there's a raft of very good phones at that price point, however a lot of them still use micro USB charging whereas the G7+ has USB C 27w quick charge.

Changed from a g5 to a g7play a few months back, the only downside i can think of is the camera isn't great, does everything else well. Battery life is decent, screen is good enough for my crappy eyes. Think I paid £169 for it and i'm pleased with the performance at that price.
Bought the wife one as well as her iphone SE was playing up, she grumbles a bit about it not being as good but I've advised her I'll no longer be providing tech support for Itunes which shut her up.

Out of interest how is her G5 'giving up' ? Mine is starting to f*ck about when charging and never seems to get to over 60% even when left overnight.

I see Amazon have the G7 Power for only about 135 quid at the minute.

Me and the mrs now both have the g7 power. Good phone for what it is - in our case to have a battery you can punish all day and not need charging every 5 seconds was imperative so its nice for a manufacturer to recognise this rather than the one-size-fits-all approach some have, beyond that it does everything you need and mines had a few knocks and bangs, its probably the skoda Octavia of phones or something. If I smash it to fk on site tomorrow or some lowlife snatches the mrs one it'll be an inconvenience.

My kids both have Moto G7 plays and they are much better than I thought they would be. I'd personally splash out a bit more for the G7 or maybe the power but they're perfectly decent, my kids are very pleased with theirs.

I've got a g6+ and have found it great.

Will upgrade when the g8 is out.
