How does anyone use Android hands free? I've set up Google voice assistant, which works fine, but it won't wake the phone from sleep. You have to press the power button to "wake" the phone and then Google Voice will unlock and i can get it to phone people, send a message, play music or whatever.

My problem is that i want to use this with a motorcycle intercom system. I've set that up as a trusted device, so the phone stays unlocked while it is connected, but it goes into sleep mode after a minute and then I can't use it again until i press the power button again. As the phone is in my pocket, this is tricky/impossible to do with gloves on while riding.

There must be a way around this.
How does everyone else use hands free in cars etc? What am i missing?

My S9 responds to OK Google even when locked. What phone do you have?

It depends on what device you have, and how the manufacturer has configured lock screen behaviour.

As The_Jackal mentioned above, "Hey Google" will wake the assistant on my device, but for security it'll only carry out wide ranging tasks when connected to a trusted device. In your instance that's your headset.
Search your phone settings for Assistant or voice command settings (presuming the settings screen has a search box).

Mine was off by default, but now configured to recognise the wake phrase, but if not connected to a trusted device then it asks me to manually unlock the phone.

I have an Interphone F5, and the "voice dial" button on that fires up google assistant on my phone, so you can issue dialling instructions.

If your helmet kit just acts like a microphone and speakers, and there's no other controls, I can see that might be a problem.

Also: I'm not really convinced that using a phone while riding a motorcycle is a great idea - I usually leave mine turned off and certainly never make any calls when I'm riding.

You have to turn this function on in Google settings. Can't remember how to do it, but wasn't hard to find.
