Is YouTube getting better, or worse?

I enjoy watching YouTube videos and some of the content is great, so much specific stuff for whatever you're into be it sport, training, science etc. However there is also a massive amount of clickbait dross. Couple this with double adverts multiple times in a video (usually highly annoying and chirpy) adverts under videos, surveys, constant invitations to use premium or whatever its called, creators having to do lengthy plugs at the start of every video it almost feels unusable sometimes. So am I being melodramatic or is it starting to jump the shark?

t, a bit like apps most of the free ones are ruined by constant crap. I use Adblock which helps on youtube but I don’t like all their anti-monetisation crap for content providers they deem bad eg any hunting videos, anything that might cause offence to the professionally offended etc. Pathetic

There's good and bad. Some of the car repair jobs are superb. Much better to watch the job from start to finish in the warm and dry, finding out which tools you will need before you make the car undriveable. Also good for knowing whether that impossible to see screwhead is going to be an Allen or Torx.
Filming and editing standards are a bugbear. Some shot with handheld phone cameras are truly dreadful quality-wise, but may be the only source of info. The ones from poorer countries often show how a single component, such as a resistor or thermal fuse, can be replaced in an assembly rather than changing the whole expensive assembly. The ingenuity of some contributors is truly amazing when it comes to doing a job with minimal facilities.

ked off to another platform I hope others follow suiteI think YouTube has had its day but it wont stop it being so popular just look at the total dross produced on it and the views they get. Baffles me how someone like schmee or whatever hes called can be so talentless yet so popular, to think he earns money from it boggles the mind. Problem I think is the mass of content and what to do with it so smaller stuff, which can be genuinely good, get crushed.
I've (almost) never watched YT with adverts. I've been on it since almost day 1.
A couple of times I've watched it on my phone with adverts and its a fking pain. No doubt I would watch it a lot less if I could not avoid the adverts.
I note many people now put sponsor messages within the video itself now.

It's easy enough to tell what's blatant junk and avoid it. Maybe it would be different if I was into more mainstream subjects.
What does annoy me most about it is that many have chosen to make their information repository of choice so if you need a solution to a problem you have to wade through minutes of waffle which may have no indication of where the actual nugget is rather than a couple of seconds of reading. This feels like a downgrade to me.

I watch a lot of YouTube on the TV as with the right subscriptions you get some decent, short entertainment. Good whilst I eat breakfast etc. II often use YouTube for music when at the gym too, although I'm not actually watching it then.
When watching TV 'properly', I use Amazon, Netflix, Now TV or the catch up services. We finally got rid of sky after 10 years as it was a waste of money.
I rarely watch actual TV being broadcast as I don't get much time to watch TV, during that short window I would like to choose what to watch.
I'm 32, so I guess I must be a millennial, but I'm no snowflake sunshine.

PiHole doesn't block ads on YouTube and Facebook, since their adservers are embedded, AFAIK. If you have a blacklist for YouTube / Facebook please share.I've been using a PiHole for over a year and it stops ads everywhere but YT and FB.
