Need to change the rubber on my X50. What are the better tyre with regards to grip and life span between the Pirelli P Zero Asim N3 (£230), Pirelli P Zero Corsa Asim N6 (£230)and the Michelin Pilot sport N1 (£280), also taking into account the price.
Cheers.
And any shop recommendations in the caterham, surrey area.

Elite Tyres and Pirelli Corsa

The corsa is a track tyre though so will wear quicker.

Lee, you need to get a lower quote on your pirelli assimetricos. I've got two rears going on tomorrow at £180 per tyre. Best way to do this is get a local independent outfit to match or come close to an internet price.

..just purchased 2 Mich Pilot spt N2 295/30/ZR18 for £192.00 each + VAT from Micheldever

www.micheldever.co.uk/tyres.html

was looking at options but stuck with the Michs, think they have best overall grip, wear rate etc..

Kwik Fit are quoting £134 per tyre rear, £139 front for Pirellis, including VAT and fitting. I've just looked because I don't need a set yet...

Ken the price for the rears may make it worth your while buying a few pairs.

Currently the Kwikfit website gives a fitted price of £397 for the two tyres I've got going on tomorrow (Including the 15% dscount for two tyres). I assume your price was got after a bit of haggling on the phone? I'm a little surprised that they're selling the smaller front tyres for more than the rears?

Cheers guys,
I did get these prices off the web but will ring around tomorrow. I wanted to stick with the michelins as i reckon they wear better. Im going to need a pair of rears straight after Bedford on thursday.

These Pirelli prices are straight from the Kwik Fit site (www.kwik-fit.com/) and I have just confirmed that the rears are a fiver cheaper than the fronts. These are for N2s front and rear. With fitting plus valves and balancing and a pound per tyre for disposal of the old ones, the total cost quoted is £445.46. Can't be bad! They offer the N3 for the front at £143 each.

Oh. I tried the site www.kwikfit.co.uk and got the price I mentioned.

Edited to say. Ken tried the site you quoted and am still getting £397 for two rears on my car. Are we talking the same size? ie 295/30 ZR18?

Daz,
Do you know how much quicker the pirelli's wear over the Michelin's?

Afraid not. To date I have stuck to the pirellis as fitted to the car when I bought it. I am tempted next time I need to change all four tyres at the same time to try the Continental Conti-Sport Contact 2 N2, as currently run by MOD500, rods, and Herr Ruff on his 600+bhp RTurbo demonstrator/development car.

Sorry, I didn't think to check your wheel size! My Targa has 17 inch wheels as standard and that's what I got the quote for. It did seem odd that we should get such different quotes!
